Did you know that it is possible to reverse Type 2 diabetes?


We are looking for 100 people who would like to participate in a study to evaluate the effectiveness of Mastering Diabetes, an online program to better control type 1 diabetes and prevent and reverse type 2 diabetes, featured in a New York Times best-selling book by the same name.  A retrospective study by Dr. Drozek demonstrated effectiveness of Mastering Diabetes in improving blood sugar levels and in helping with weight reduction.

The program provides members with direct access to expert coaches via 1-on-1 private coaching and an online community containing thousands of others living with all forms of diabetes, including type 1 diabetes, type 1.5 diabetes, prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, and gestational diabetes.

You will be able to participate in a weekly private coaching session with an expert diabetes coach, either by telephone or using Zoom video conferencing. In that session, your coach will provide you with step-by-step instructions and support in modifying your lifestyle to transition towards a plant-based diet for significantly improved diabetes health.

You will also be given the opportunity to text message with your coach in between these sessions, so that you can receive daily support in improving their lifestyle choices.

The cost of full coaching program is $599 per month, however, as part of this study, access is being provided free for 3 months for a total value of $1797.

As you complete the course, you will also receive gift cards at different points, up to $100 for completing the entire program.

To take advantage of this opportunity you need to:

-Be age 18-75 years.

-Have a diagnosis of diabetes or prediabetes or a hemoglobin A1c of 5.7 or higher.

-Be able and willing to do physical activity 5-6 days per week.

-Be willing to use a smartphone or computer to access the online education modules and online community, and have reliable daily Internet access.

-Have an email account and an Internet connection at home.

-Be able to purchase and transport fresh produce from a local grocery store to your house on a weekly basis and be able to prepare food in your house or get help preparing food following recipes and meal examples provided in the course.

-Be open-minded about eating a plant-based diet and performing periodic intermittent fasting (16-24 hours, once a week),

-Be willing to participate in an online community for support and coaching and to participate in weekly videoconferencing for support and coaching

-Be courteous and respectful to others in the online community


You cannot participate in this program if you:

-Have been told by a medical provider to not participate in physical activity.

-Have a medical condition that prevents walking at least a mile a day.

-Are considered unsuitable to exercise by Dr. Drozek or other members of the research team.

-Have a diagnosis of dementia.

-Are pregnant at the time of enrollment

-Do not speak or understand English

-Have advanced kidney disease (stage 4 or 5)

-Have congestive heart failure

-Are unable to use email, a smartphone, or the Internet

Bruce wrote about his experience as part of the study:

Five months ago, I was gaining weight while actively trying to lose it, I had little energy, my daily glucose numbers were up over 200. I thought I was controlling my diabetes and high cholesterol, but was I?

I was taking nine pills a day on the advice of my primary care doctor to “control” Type II Diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and acid reflux. It wasn't working! My Cholesterol numbers were sky high, 354 (a heart attack waiting to happen). My A1c was up at 8.4 even with Metformin, twice a day.

My wife, God bless her, read about Mastering Diabetes, convinced me I should try it, and we contacted them to get started. My doctor gave it his reluctant blessing, I met my coach, Marco, and we started the “Blood Sugar Transformation Challenge”.

Two weeks after starting the diet and embracing the exercise regimen, my daily glucose had dropped down to 122 from my baseline of 207. I lost 9 pounds, my energy level had increased, and I was sleeping better and longer. I was feeling much better already, and I was thrilled with the educational portion of the program.

In a very short time, I understood what the obstacle had been to regain my good health. Insulin resistance! The low-fat, plant-based, whole-food diet, increased exercise, good sleeping habits, and proper education on the “How” and the “Why” of Diabetes caused by insulin resistance, clicked into place and the newfound information propelled me toward my goal.

My Why? Live longer and healthier by reversing Diabetes and getting high Cholesterol and blood pressure under control. Lose at least 15 pounds, reduce my A1c down to at least 6.0 and get off as many medications as I could.

Ten weeks into the program my blood tests showed my A1c down to 6.4, my cholesterol down to 114, triglyceride 121, LDL 58, HDL 43, my blood pressure down to 117/62, the acid reflux disappeared. I lost 13 pounds, even with the copious amounts of vegetables and fruit I was consuming, my sleep was much improved, and I had much more energy.

My doctor's reaction was, “I'm thrilled! I can't believe you completely reversed Diabetes in just 12 weeks, and you dropped your cholesterol and blood pressure down so that they are better than my own”. He told me I could discontinue taking Metformin completely, cut my Atorvastatin down to one 20 mg pill at bedtime, and drop all the rest of the medications I had been taking for years.

You can Master Diabetes! I'm 73 years young, and I just proved it!
